「血みどろ絵」で有名な芳年 が、戊辰戦争の彰義隊死者の遺骸を取材して生々しく描いたこのシリーズ。時事を描く事が禁止されていた時代の謎解き絵でもあります。

Yoshitoshi, famous for his “Bloody Prints” series, covered the remains of the dead of the Shogitai (the Imperial Japanese Army) and vividly depicted them in this series during the Boshin War (1868-1945). The works are also riddles to be solved at a time when it was forbidden to depict current matters.

From our latest catalog, a rare work by Kuniyoshi, which is also the cover of this catalog. The cover features a snake, just for the year of the snake.
