We recommend decorating Ukiyo-e like flowers according to the season. Framing is also available.

「江戸名所道化尽 王子狐火」#広景 安政6年（1859）
ヒトを化かして大名行列ごっこをする狐たち。カボチャの挟み箱、トウモロコシの毛槍、何よりこの楽しそうな表情！なんだかほっこりする浮世絵。
＜7月3週目＞ 店主出張のため、7/11（火）１日のみの営業となります。
‘Fox-fires at Ôji (Ôji kitsunebi), from the series Comical Views of Famous Places in Edo (Edo meisho dôke zukushi)’ #Hirokage, 1859.
Foxes playing the daimyo’s procession by fooling humans. Pumpkin boxes, corn spears and, above all, their happy expressions! This ukiyoe is a somewhat heart-warming work.

「鯰（なまず）絵」（作者不詳） 安政2年（1855）
地震災害多発の江戸時代、地震の原因と考えられていた鯰を叱りつけるような浮世絵が多い中、こちらは皮肉一味。職人さんたちが鯰をおだてているようですよ。はてさて。
来週は下記日程がイレギュラー。

‘Catfish with Kaname-ishi’ (artist unknown), 1855.
In the Edo period, when earthquake disasters were frequent, many ukiyo-e depict catfish, which were thought to be the cause of earthquakes, as if they were being punished, but this one is ironic. Carpenters, plasterers and other craftsmen seem to be flattering the catfish. Well, well, well.
Next week, the following dates are irregular.

夏ですね。
着ているものや習慣など当時の様子を覗き見ているような。浮世絵は、楽しい。

二代広重 『東都三十六景 佃しま漁舟』 文久2年（1862）
状態の良い初摺りもしくはそれに近い浮世絵は、木目がきれいに見えるのが特徴の一つです。たくさん摺ることで版木が摩耗していくためです。木版は生き物のよう。

Hiroshige Ⅱ ‘Fishing Boats at Tsukudajima (Tsukudajima gyoshû), from the series Thirty-six Views of the Eastern Capital (Tôto sanjûrokkei)’ (1862).
One of the characteristics of ukiyo-e prints that are first or near first prints is that the grain of the wood is clearly visible. This is because the woodblocks are worn down by many printings. Woodblocks are like living creatures.

英泉の描く女性たちは独特の愛らしさと気品ある色香が。藍と墨だけで表現された図は目にも涼やか。

Eisen’s images of women have a unique charm and graceful sexuality. The images expressed using only indigo and sumi ink are very cool.
